In the western part of the island is the town of Vela Luka, situated in a deep and large bay, surrounded with many coves, whose shores are covered with vineyards, olive trees, figs and pine trees gently down towards the sea.

With its 4500 inhabitants Vela Luka is the second largest town on the Adriatic islands, a safe anchorage and harbor for boaters.

The wide panoramic views, mild Mediterranean climate, clear sea, interesting and rich cultural heritage, various sports, recreational and entertainment facilities and warm-hearted and hospitable people make Vela Luka an attractive tourist destination.
