Trogir is also known as ''little Venice'' as it is situated on the islet that is connected to the mainland and Ciovo with two bridges. This is a typical Dalmatian small town often referred to as one big museum due to its rich cultural heritage including medieval buildings and monuments which are under the patronage of UNESCO. The history of Trogir dates back in ancient time when the town was called Tragurion. There are two entrances into the ancient city: south gate (XVI ct.) and the north gate (XVII ct.). For those who like monuments, history and art Trogir is a must-see place with its Romanic buildings, famous Radovan's portal on st. Lowrence cathedral from XII century, churches, convents and city museum. Trogir also has three forts of which the biggest one is famous Kamerlengo that was built from XIII till XV century. Kamerlengo also gives very special visual identity to Trogir that is on UNESCO list of world cultural heritage from 1997. Small lanes and squares, picturesque restaurants and bars, souvenir shops and galleries, and touristic manifestations give this town special Mediterranean charm in night hours. For those who prefer other means of fun there, nearby places such as Primosten, Sibenik or Split offer many night clubs and bars.
